One of Texas' Best Kept Secrets (is Houston)
This coming from Andrew Sullivan’s Daily Dish, mostly about how much better Houston is than people give it credit for. His readers chime in too. Sure it’s ugly, flat, too spread out, smog-filled and conservative. We all know that. But it really was a great place to grow up. And I wouldn’t mind moving back someday.

WHAT I EXPECT: To thrash. Even though I’m not sure what that means and I’ll probably just end up looking awkward.
SUMMARY: I hate it. I could go on, but I hated it too much to do that.

WHAT I KNOW: That the Grateful Dead have a lot of fans called Deadheads. And they seem like hippies in general. And Jerry Garcia sang for them and died.
